Earl F. Cramer, 89, Burlington, died Wednesday, January 3, 2007, in a Minot Healthcare Center.
Earl was born October 23, 1917, on the family farm near Mohall, North Dakota, the son of Irvin and Hallie (Medler) Cramer. He was raised and educated near Mohall.
Earl moved to Minot in 1937 and was employed at Garner Used Car Market and then with Westlie Motor Company. Earl was united in marriage to Ardene Daeley on October 26, 1940, at Mohall.
He entered into active duty service with the US Army in 1942 and served with the 104th Infantry Division in the European Theatre of World War II. He received his honorable discharge in 1945 and returned to North Dakota. He worked for International Harvester Company for over 38 years as a mechanic, District Manager and eventually Regional Service Manager. He retired from the company in 1976.
Earl was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite, Order of Eastern Star, Shriners Club and it's Motor Patrol unit, Minot Elks Lodge, Minot Eagles Aerie, Dunseith American Legion, and the Burlington Senior Citizens group. Earl enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing and restoring old cars.
His loving family includes : his wife of 66 years, Ardene; daughter: Barbara Quimby, Burlington, ND and son: LDee (Diana) Cramer, Pasadena, MD; grandchildren: Nicholas, Travis, and Brady Cramer; Shannon Mayer, Diane Pastor and Shawn Quimby; great-grandchildren: Matthew, James, Alex, Josie, Vince, Casey, Harley, Mandy, Josh, Tyler, Tawnie, Taryn and Alexis; several nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Earl was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Robert, and sisters, Irene Brudvik, and Viola Amundson.
Funeral service
: Monday, January 8, 2006, at 10:00 a.m. in Vincent United Methodist Church, Minot;
Interment:
North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan, ND;
Visitation:
Sunday from noon until 5:00 p.m. in the Thomas Family Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers or plants memorials are preferred to Anne Carlson School, the Shrine Hospital, St. Paul, MN, American Cancer Society, or the Western North Dakota Alzheimer's Foundation, Bismarck, ND.
