Obituary

Duane Jenner, 92, Minot and longtime Bottineau County farmer, died Tuesday, August 25, 2026 in a Minot hospital.

Duane was born to George and Carrie (Griffith) Jenner, the youngest of 8, on the family farm located in Wheaton Township of Bottineau County, near Antler, North Dakota. He spent his formative years attending country school, where according to his tales, were filled with fun, a little mischief and some life lessons that he carried his entire life.

Duane married Rosalyn Tennyson on October 4, 1953, at the Bethel Lutheran Parsonage. They made their home at the ‘little house’ on the Tennyson family farm and were blessed with a daughter and two sons in the next four years of their life together.

They purchased the farm in 1968, naming it ‘Green Acres’ before the beloved television show aired. They would spend the next 25 growing seasons working the land, raising cattle and providing for their family. Duane was a true entrepreneur, who was not afraid to pursue a variety of different jobs and business ventures during his lifetime. From the oil field to sales at Jack Harris Equipment in the winter, or the operation of the Antler Grocery, he remained vigilant for ideas and opportunities. This drive led he and his friends to sell exercise equipment for many years as their side hustle.

Duane always kept family at the center of his life and deeply valued time with his children and grandchildren. Lake weekends at Metigoshe after the work week was complete were filled with hours of watersports and time on the boat. Winter ushered in snowmobile rides and pulling kids on snow skis or the best car hood available across the prairie. He enjoyed the outdoors and spent fall pursuing whitetails and grouse. Duane also had a great love for dogs and they were definitely part of the family.

They moved to Minot in 1993 after 40 years on the farm. Duane was a member of the Eagles Aerie and carried memberships to Bethel Lutheran Church and both Faith and Vincent United Churches in Minot. Duane was a collector of unique antiques and had many collections. Weekends were often spent in front of an auctioneer waiting to score the next item. In their retirement years, he took the advice of his sister and became a snowbird alongside his wife spending the winter months in the Arizona heat. They enjoyed weekly swap meets while in Arizona to score their next antique. Rosalyn passed away on October 4, 2021, their 68th wedding anniversary. Duane will be remembered for his entrepreneurial spirit, charismatic personality and dedication to his family.

Duane is survived by his children Ramona (Wes) Arneson, Minot, Doyle Jenner and Gregory Jenner, both Minot; grandchildren Matthew Jenner, Amy (Jerry) Peick, Jessica (Torrey) Dickinson, Charissa Arneson, Theodore (Sasha) Arneson, Alexis (Travis) Jenner and Lindsey Jenner; great-grandchildren Tessa (Daniel) Becker, Casey Jenner, Christopher Jenner, Nikolas Kraft, Aden Dickinson, Percy and Iszabella Peick and Ri Arneson; great-great grandchild Ash-Lee Becker and expected baby Becker along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Duane was preceded in death by his parents, wife Rosalyn and seven siblings.

A private family service will be held.
