Douglas Arthur Kvamme, 64, 622 1st Street N.W. Minot, and formerly of the Gilby, ND area, died Tuesday, October 24, 2006, in a Minot Hospital.

Doug was born October 4, 1942, at Grand Forks, ND, the son of Joseph and Irene (Visness) Kvamme. He was raised at Gilby, ND and graduated from High School there in 1960, with a love of music and sports. During his younger years, he played a number of instruments in a band.

Doug was married to Janet Marie Olson on March 10, 1961. They moved to Minot in 1966 and raised their four children and later were divorced.

Doug was united in marriage to Marilyn Annette Axness on September 1, 2001, at Carpio. They made their home in Minot, where he was employed with Choice Hotels. Together, they enjoyed camping, fishing, and watching the Minnesota Vikings. Doug also found great joy in woodworking, sharing photos of his grandchildren and eating his mother's baked goods.

His loving family includes : wife: Marilyn, children: Dennis (Nancy) Kvamme, Grafton, JoEllen (Pete) Kelley, Signal Mountain, TN, Lisa (Laine) Almquist, Chetek, WI, Patricia (Michael) Wood, Minot; Mother: Irene, Larimore, ND; Grandchildren: Matthew, Christopher, and Samantha Kvamme, Miranda, Laura, and Elizabeth Kelley; Lindsey, Erik, Sarah and Alex Almquist; Jennifer and Justin Wood; Sister: Maycille Clemetson, Grand Forks, ND.

Doug was preceded in death by his father, and sister: Arlene Lindholm.

Funeral service : Friday, October 27, 2006, at 2:00 p.m. in First Lutheran Church, Minot.
Interment : Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot.
Visitation: Thursday from 2:00 p.m. -7:00 p.m. in the Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
