Douglas LaVerne Hauge, 81, Minot, died Monday, July 27, 2015 in his home.
Douglas LaVerne Hauge was born on May 2, 1934, to Arnold and Tracey (Snyder)
Hauge and passed away July 27, 2015.
Douglas was raised on the original Carl Hauge homestead southwest of Minot in rural Afton Township. He went to grade school at Harrison School, located in rural Harrison Township. Douglas graduated from Dakota Lutheran Academy in Minot in 1952 and entered in the US Navy the following year, where he served as a welder. On June 1, 1954 he married Joan Louise Price and after his honorable discharge from the Navy in 1957, they moved back and lived on the family farm 7 miles southwest of Minot. He farmed in partnership with his father until September 1960, when he began working for Farmer's Union (which later became Cenex, and recently Enerbase) where he delivered propane and installed and serviced furnaces and air conditioners around rural Minot until his retirement in 1999.
Doug really enjoyed working with his draft horses and was in many parades with them. After his father, Arnold, retired in 1976, Doug enjoyed running the family farm. Most of all, Doug loved spending time with his grandchildren and step grandchildren.
Joan died on July 30, 1993. Douglas married Bev Spokely June 1, 1994.
Douglas was a member of Deering Lutheran Church, and a lifelong member of the
Minot Moose Lodge.
Survivors: wife: Beverly Hauge, Minot; daughter, Deborah (Michael) Fogarty, Minot; sons, Brent (RaNae) Hauge, Mohall, Brian Hauge, Riverton, WY, Scott (Allison) Hauge, Bismarck,ND; 10 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren; step daughters, Michelle (Terry) Geisen, Minot, Sheri (Steve) Factor, Ohio and Barb Spokely, Minot; 6 step grandchildren; 6 step great grandchildren; sisters: Kathryn Swanson and Carolyn Christman, both of Minot; brother, Gary Hauge, Yuma, AZ, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by his parents, wife, Joan Louise Hauge and son, Douglas LaVerne Hauge Jr.
Funeral Service: Friday, July 31, 2015 at 3:00 p.m. in Bethany Lutheran Church, Minot.
Interment: Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot.
Visitation: Thursday, July 30, 2015 from 3:00 - 6:00 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
