Dorothy Jean Schouweiler, 88, Minot died on Tuesday, December 2, 2014 in her home.

Jean was born on April 4, 1926 in Leavenworth, Kansas to Albert Robitsch and Mary (Orlenski) Robitsch. Her father was a World War I hero and her mother was a nurse. She was reared and educated in Leavenworth.

Jean married Doug Schouweiler on December 23, 1946 following Doug's service in the U.S. Army during World War II. They moved to Brookings, SD, where Doug attended South Dakota State University on the G.I. bill. Following the birth of their son David in 1949, they moved to Duluth, MN, where Doug accepted a position with Bridgeman Creamery. Doug was transferred to Minot, ND, in 1953. Jean worked briefly as a secretary/office manager at Minot State University. Doug worked for Bridgeman until he retired as general manager in 1982. Doug died on April 8, 1984. Jean continued to reside in Minot, most recently on 30th street S.W.

Jean was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and a longtime member of the Minot Country Club where she enjoyed golfing. Also, she was an avid bridge player.

Jean's loving family includes her son Dave (Donna) Schouweiler of Bismarck; sister: Mary Ellen (Jim) Ascher of Overland Park, Kansas; niece: Jill Webb and nephews: Chris and Jim Ascher.

Jean was preceded in death by her parents and husband.

Celebration of the life of Jean Schouweiler: Wednesday, December 10, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. in Cornerstone Presbyterian Church 1000 3rd street N.E., Minot.
Interment will be in Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot.
Visitation: Tuesday from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
Memorials are preferred to Minot Junior Golf, Jack Hoeven Wee Links Golf Course, or the Cornerstone Presbyterian Church.
