Obituary

Dorothy Rue , 90, Minot, died Saturday, May 31, 2014 in a Minot nursing home.

Dorothy was born February 14, 1924, in Sheyenne, North Dakota to Even and Ruth (Larson) Hanson. She was raised and educated in rural schools in Wells County, North Dakota and was a graduate of Sheyenne High School in 1942. Dorothy completed the teacher's exam and taught school in Wells County for four years.

Dorothy was united in marriage to Rueben Rue on July 19, 1947, in Sheyenne, North Dakota. They made their home there until moving to Rolla in 1958 and finally settling in Minot in 1962. They raised three daughters.

Dorothy was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, the Christ Lutheran Church Women's group and the VFW Auxiliary, all of Minot. She was a faithful volunteer with her CLCW group at the Norsk Hostefest for many years. She enjoyed sewing and stitchery. Her family always anticipated sampling the wonderful baked goods and cookies she made,p articularly during the holidays. Dorothy was a talented musician on the piano, organ, and accordion.

She will be deeply missed by all who shared in her life.

Her family includes loving husband of 67 years, Rueben, Minot; daughters, JoAnn (Rick) Maj, Longview, Washington, Peggy (David) Burckhard, Minot, North Dakota and Shelly (Mark) Wasser, Sterling, Virginia; grandchildren, Rachael (Khris) Walz, Angela (Eric) Shaw, Natalie (Mike) Haisley, Emily Burckhard, Joel Burkchard, Paul Burckhard, Patrick Burckhard, Evan Wasser, Eric Wasser, and Corrie Burckhard; 8 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Henry Hanson, sister, Hilma Erickson, both of Sheyenne, and grandson, Todd Burckhard

Funeral Service: 11:00 a.m. Friday, June 6, 2014 at Christ Lutheran Church, Minot.
Interment: Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot
Visitation: Thursday, June 5, 2014 from 5:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
