Dorothy Roise , 94, Minot, formerly of Berthold, died Wednesday, January 29, 2025, in a Garrison nursing home.

Dorothy May, the daughter of George and Martha Ruth (Varnes) DeBilt, was born on November 17, 1930 in Passport Township of Ward County, near Berthold, ND. She was raised and educated in rural Berthold where she attended country school and graduated from Berthold High School in 1948.

Dorothy was united in marriage to Robert Roise on November 21, 1948 in Berthold. They made their home in Minot until 1955, when they moved to Berthold. She was employed at Roise Implement in Berthold as their bookkeeper.

Dorothy and Bob spent their retirement years in Arizona, North Dakota and Tennessee. They returned to Minot in 2015. Bob died on December 17, 2015.

Dorothy was a member of Congregational United Church of Christ, Minot, Homemakers Club, Berthold and Berthold Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed knitting, reading, golfing and cross-country skiing.

Dorothy will be remembered for encompassing all the great attributes of a mother. She was the family navigator and co-pilot in our lives and alongside her husband flying many miles in the Mooney. Dorothy was kind, caring, loved us all unconditionally and was always fair, following the rules of golf to a 'tee'!

Dorothy's loving family includes her children Roger (Voni Slind) Roise, Garrison, Douglas (Michelle) Roise, Kulm/Fargo, ND, David (Karen) Roise, Minot, Jean (Steve) Kraft, Crossville, TN and James (Diane) Roise, Crossville, TN; 21 grandchildren, 63 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great grandchildren along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, daughter Rhonda, brother Wilbert, sisters Margaret Trondson, Maridell Linster, Verna Skabo and Eleanor Pietsch and sister-in-law Thelma DeBilt.

A Public Memorial Gathering for family and friends will be held on Monday, February 3, 2025 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
Interment: Wildrose Cemetery, Berthold later in the Spring 2025
In lieu of flowers or plants memorials are preferred to the with "Victoria Roise Benefit" at 1st International Bank &Trust of Minot.
