Dorothy "Dottie" Snyder Macy, 90, Minot, died Sunday, November 18, 2012 at ManorCare Health Services in Minot after living a long, God-centered life.
Dottie, as she preferred to be called, was born on November 16, 1922 in Knightstown, Indiana as an only child to Carl and Myrle (Palmas) Snyder. She was raised on a small farm near Knightstown and graduated from Cambridge City High School in 1940. After high school, she attended one year of business school and briefly worked in civil service during World War II. She met her husband, James Gilbert Macy in high school and they were united in marriage on January 25, 1944. They moved to various locations in Indiana and Texas and finally settled in Cincinnati, Ohio in 1963.
In 2006, Dottie and her husband moved to Minot to be closer to their son and daughter-in-law and grandsons. James died December 31, 2006. Dottie resided at the Wellington Assisted Living Center for six years and enjoyed her view of the lake, with all the wildlife and the friends she made there. She participated in bible studies as well as the choir while she was a resident there. She loved the warm, friendly people of North Dakota and the beautiful skies and sunshine.
Dottie always lived her life as a strong Christian wife, mother and grandmother each day. Her family misses her dearly, but they know she is with their sovereign, triune God in heaven because of her faith in Jesus Christ alone. She is joyfully reunited in heaven with her Christian husband of nearly 63 years. She was a wonderful model of a Christian lady in faith and practice. Her children and grandchildren loved her dearly.
Her loving family includes, daughter, Linda (Tom) Simpson of Evansville, Indiana; son, Bob (Candy) Macy, Minot; four grandchildren: Ann (Kelly) Marley, Matt Simpson, Forrest (Naomi) Macy & Daniel Macy; six great grandchildren: Elisabeth, Hannah, Caroline, Nathaniel, Lillian & Verity Marley.
Dottie was preceded in death by her parents and husband, James.
