Dorothy "Dottie" Grey Dancy, 88, of Minot passed away Monday, January 23, 2023 in Minot.
Dorothy Dancy was born in Clinton, North Carolina, the daughter of Henry and Mary Lua Monk on April 25, 1934. Dorothy received her Nursing Degree from St. Joseph's College in Kansas City. She also received her AA Degree from South Plains College in Business Administration. Dorothy worked for the Department of Defense for over 30 years.
Dorothy enjoyed gospel music, religious shows, helping people and volunteering. As a volunteer, she was generous with both time and money.
Dorothy is survived by her oldest son, Lafeyette Lemonk Dancy, his wife, Lauren Dancy, and their daughter, Maianda Dancy. She is also survived by her son, Samuel Dancy III, grandchildren Arruetta Eiland, Terry Eiland, and additionally, four great-grandchildren, brothers, Thomas Ray Monk and (his wife Sirlemor Monk) in South Carolina and Rufus Monk in New York.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Samuel Dancy Jr., daughter, Marinda Denise, son, Maurice Eugene and brother James Carr Monk.
The memorial service will be held at Thomas Family Funeral Home in Minot, ND on Saturday, February 4, 2023 at 1:00 pm and the reception will be held directly afterward at the Hyatt House in Minot. To view a livestream of the service access

A visitation will be held from noon to 1:00 p.m. on Saturday in the funeral home.
