Dorothy Bjertness, 86, Minot, died Saturday, March 13, 2021 in a Minot hospital.
Dorothy was born May 18, 1934 in Stanley, ND to Bert and Ruth (Rogers) Stacy. The years of her youth were spent in Minot and she was a graduate of Minot Model High School in 1952. She was employed in the dietary department of Trinity Hospital.
Dorothy was once united in marriage to Gordon Miller. They were blessed with two daughters and made their home in California. She returned to Minot in 1975.
Dorothy worked for the Credit Bureau for nearly a decade until joining Dakota Drug as a wholesale supply clerk. She held that position until April of 1991 when she retired. In retirement, Dorothy worked as a visitation receptionist for many years at the Thomas Family Funeral Home.
Dorothy was united in marriage to Elmer 'Ole' Bjertness on December 22, 1990. They were active members of the Minot community sharing their talents through volunteerism in many organizations. Ole passed away on October 15, 2012.
Dorothy was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church, Minot, where she was active in Lutheran Women's Missionary League and the bereavement committee. She also maintained an active role in the American Legion Auxiliary for many years.
Dorothy enjoyed baking, traveling to see family, and loved to crochet, especially afghans. She was often found on the back of Mike's motorcycle on a summer ride with his fellow CMA riders enjoying the fresh air and conversation. A good book, embroidery, and cookie deliveries to family and friends were often on her daily task list. She will be forever remembered for her wit, determination and quick smirk by all who shared in her life.
Dorothy is survived by her daughters Sandra (Ken) Waterman, Rohnert Park, CA and Brenda Miller, Hamilton, MT; stepchildren Gregg (Rhonda) Bjertness, Minot, Jody (Darrell) Kraft, Minot, Dana (Laurie) Bjertness, Minot, Bret Bjertness, Arizona, and Tanya (Kent) Hanson, Marysville, WA; two grandchildren; twelve step grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; three step great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, husband Elmer 'Ole' Bjertness and sister Lillian Dixon and brother Charles Stacy.

11:00 a.m. Thursday, March 18, 2021 at St. Mark's Lutheran Church, Minot.

Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot.
Visitation:
Wednesday, March 17, 2021 from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at the Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
In lieu of plants and flowers,

are preferred to St. Mark's Lutheran Church, Minot.
