DorisJean Johnson, 75, of Minot and Carefree, AZ and formerly of Burlington died on Friday, November 21, 2008 in Phoenix, AZ from a cerebral hemorrhage.

DorisJean was born on April 13, 1933 in Sheyenne, ND to Carl and Ellen (Sandvik) Rue. She was raised on a farm in Grandfield Township of Eddy County and attended rural schools in that area. She graduated from Sheyenne High School in 1951 and attended Minot State Teachers College where she received her standard teaching certificate. She returned to teach in Grandfield Township School and Harvey Elementary. DorisJean married Kenneth L. Johnson on June 12, 1955 in Grandfield Lutheran Church - rural Sheyenne. They made their home on a farm near Burlington, ND. She furthered her education by going back to Minot State University. She received her B.S. degree in elementary education and taught remedial reading and second grade at the Burlington Elementary School for eighteen years. She also taught elementary school in Carefree, AZ for five years. For the past twenty-five years, DorisJean and Ken have been residing in Minot, ND and Carefree, AZ.

DorisJean was a member of the local, state and national education associations and the First Presbyterian Church - Minot. She especially enjoyed golfing, socializing and spending time with her grandchildren.

DorisJean's loving family includes her husband of 53 years Ken; sons: Jay (Laurie) Johnson of Burlington and Kirk (Sara) Johnson of Casselton; grandchildren: Bethany, Brianna, Travis, Tanner, Kaia and Jaden Johnson; sister: Judy Andrews of Spokane, WA; brothers: Reuben (Dorothy) Rue of Minot and Jim (Sue) Rue of Grand Forks and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

DorisJean was preceded in death by her parents, sister: Ovie Semmens and brothers: Glen and Chester Rue.

Funeral Service: Saturday, November 29, 2008 at 10:30 a.m. in Peace Lutheran Church - Burlington.
Interment will be in Burlington Township Cemetery - Burlington.
Family service: Friday at 7:30 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home - Minot.
Visitation: Friday from 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
Memorials are preferred to Peace Lutheran Church.
