Doris Kittelson, 79, Velva died on Sunday, August 9, 2020 in her home with her loving family at her side.

Doris Ione Ellison was born on March 5, 1941 in Velva, ND to Eric and Alma (Haga) Ellison. She was raised and educated in Bergen and Velva and graduated from Velva High School in 1959. She was the Homecoming Queen for the Class of 1959.

Doris was once married to Duane Ripplinger and they were the parents of Scott. Doris married Burdette Kittelson on February 11, 1966 at Oak Valley Lutheran Church - Velva. They made their home on a farm in Brown Township of McHenry County south of Velva where they raised small grains and dairy cattle and were the parents of Bonnie. Doris was a fulltime wife, mother and homemaker and was actively involved in all aspects of farm life. Later, Doris was employed by McHenry County Social Services. They moved into Velva in 2006.

Doris was a lifetime member of Oak Valley Lutheran Church - Velva. Doris enjoyed bowling, and was an avid reader and was a fantastic cook she always had room for guests at meal time or for coffee at her kitchen table. However, Doris' number one passion and accomplishment was her family.

Doris' loving family includes her husband of 54 years Burdette; children: Scott Ripplinger of Minot and Bonnie (Myron) Pedersen of Velva; grandchildren: McKenzie, Hayley, Kady, Emma and Mason; brother:  Jim (Irene) Ellison of Velva and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Doris was preceded in death by her parents and siblings: Elaine (Norman) Olson, Lorraine (Jerry) McDowell and Ivan (Myrna) Ellison.

Celebration of the Life of Doris Kittelson:  Friday, August 14, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. in Oak Valley Lutheran Church.
Interment will be in the Velva Community Cemetery.
Visitation:  Thursday, August 13, 2020 from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home - Minot.
