Doris Greenup , 89, longtime resident of Berthold, passed away Wednesday, December 16, 2020.

Doris was born May 15, 1931 in Berthold, ND to Earl and Olive (Hawes) Deaver.  She was raised and educated in Berthold, graduating from high school in 1950.  Doris earned her teaching certificate from Minot State Teacher's College in the summer of 1950.  She taught school at Vang Township School located south of Des Lacs, ND for a year.

Doris was united in marriage to Wilbur J. Greenup on October 22, 1951 in Berthold, ND.  They always called the community of Berthold home and were blessed with three children, Ella, Monte and Michael. Wilbur died on November 21, 2009.

Doris was an active member of the Berthold Baptist Church, participating in Mission Circle, playing the church organ and teaching Sunday School.  She held a state officer position for the American Baptist Women of ND and was active in the Berthold Senior Citizens.

She enjoyed traveling with her family and enjoyed 15 winters in Apache Junction, AZ. Doris treasured family gatherings that often included food, music, and games.  A scenic drive in the countryside, time in the garden, a crossword puzzle, pie making, or the reading of a book took up her spare time.

Doris is survived by her daughter, Ella Larson, Berthold, ND; sons, Monte (Deborah) Greenup, Dickinson, ND and Michael (Rosalie) Greenup, Berthold, ND; grandchildren, Jason (Kassidy) Skjervem, Minot and Kayla (Ryan) Schwartz, Mandan, ND; great-grandchildren, Hudson, Asher, Owen, Everett and Hallie Skjervem and Micah, Jillian and Zander Schwartz; sister Mildred Haugen, Williston, ND and brother Allie Deaver, Berthold, ND; sisters-in-law Marilyn Deaver, Berthold, ND, Francis Deaver, Minot, ND and Judy Deaver, Minot, ND along with numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Doris was preceded in death by her parents, husband Wilbur, son-in-law Armor Larson, brothers Lee and Gary Deaver, brother and sister-in-law Delwin and Ruth Deaver; brother-in-law Jim Haugen, brothers and sisters-in-law, Darrell and Edith Greenup and Robert and Beatrice Greenup and nephews Randy Greenup, Jeff Haugen, Randy Deaver and Darwin Deaver.

Celebration of Life for Doris Greenup:  10:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 22, 2020 at Berthold Baptist Church, Berthold, ND. Social distancing and face coverings are required to attend. To view a livestream of the service access https://www.mtmsales.net/thomas
Interment: Wildrose Cemetery, Berthold, ND immediately following our service at the church.
Visitation:  Monday, December 21, 2020 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Berthold Baptist Church.
Memorials are preferred to Camp Bentley, CRU, or Berthold Baptist Church in lieu of flowers and plants.
