Donna Shelby, 76, Minot died on Thursday, April 11, 2013 on arrival at a Minot hospital.

Donna was born on September 29, 1936 in Granville, ND to Tom and Mabel (Halstengard) Jacobson.

She was reared in Granville, Velva and Great Bend and graduated from Riverdale High School in 1954.

She continued her education at Bismarck Junior College and Minot State Teachers College where she received a degree in elementary education. She taught in Cando for a time before moving to Minot where she was employed at Stein's Jewelry.

Donna married Theodore "Ted" Shelby on April 15, 1957 in Whitefish, MT. They made their home in Minot where she was employed at Joe's Diner, American Legion Club Dining Room and she was the very first employee at the Food Court in Dakota Square Mall. Donna worked at the food court for over 30 years. Ted worked for the Burlington Northern Railway and for area painting contractors and as the Business Agent for the Painters Union Local #565.

Ted died on May 30, 2005. Donna had continued to reside in Minot.

Donna was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church - Minot and the American Legion Auxiliary. She especially enjoyed cribbage, pinochle, bingo, pull-tabs, football picks, gardening, cooking, reading the Minot Daily News every morning, watching Bill O'Reilly and Hannity and Fox News. She was an avid fan of the Washington Redskins and Minnesota Twins.

Donna's loving famiy includes her sons: Brad Shelby (Joyce Kuntz) and Robin Shelby all of Minot; daughters: Jacquelyn (Charlie) Herrmann of Minot and Stephanie (Dan) Lauinger of Fessenden; grandchildren: Matthew Fuhriman, Derrick Fuhriman, Jess Fuhriman, Misty Dietrich, Alexis Shelby and Kyle Shelby; great grandson: Alexzander Abernathey; sister: Beverly (James) McCarthy of Chicago IL and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Donna was preceded in death by her parents and husband.

Celebration of the Life of Donna Shelby: Wednesday, April 17, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. in Bethany Lutheran Church - Minot.
Interment: Rosehill Memorial Park - Minot.
Visitation: Tuesday from 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home - Minot.
Memorials are preferred to ND Alzheimers Foundation.
