Obituary

Donald Avery Raveling Sr., 68, Minot died on Saturday, July 10, 2010 in a Minot hospital from pancreatic cancer.

Donald was born on May 27, 1942 in Wildrose, ND to Clarence and Doris (Mott) Raveling. He was raised in Wildrose and attended school in McGregor, ND. After graduation from high school he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and served at numerous air force bases throughout the world. During this time he was married to Carolyn Sloan. To this union two children Donnie Jr. and Teri were born. He received his honorable discharge as a tech sergeant in 1982 following 25 years as a missile site manager/inventory management specialist. Don married Sharyn Nickle Herrmann on June 11, 1981 in Minot. This union added four children to the family including LeNora, Kelly, Diane and Duane. Following Don's discharge he was employed at Farstad Oil for 25 years and most recently was employed at Target for the past seven years.

Don was a member of the Minot American Legion Post #26 and especially enjoyed snowmobiling, hunting, yardwork and spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Don's loving family includes his wife of 29 years Sharyn; children: Donnie Jr. of Minneapolis and Teri (Mike) Walters of Williston; Lenora Smith (fiancé Jerry Schuler) of Minot, Kelly (Kim) Herrmann of Surrey, Diane Herrmann (significant other Keith) of Minot and Duane Herrmann (significant other Debbie) of Minot; grandchildren: Amanda, Adam, Danielle, Mandy, Jennifer, Destiny, Mikey and Rob; great grandchildren: Brian Avery "Bubba" , Sierra Walters and Drake Rathmell; siblings: Mary Joyce Goebel of Williston, Clarice (Kenneth) Schmidt of Billings MT, Barb Moss of Hamlet ND and Clarence "Sonny" (Betty) Raveling of Williston and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Don was preceded in death by his parents, siblings: Opal Devold, Marlene Breen, Henry, Duane and Gerald Raveling.

Funeral Service: Thursday, July 15, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. in First Lutheran Church - Minot.
Interment
will be in Rosehill Memorial Park - Minot.
Visitation:
Wednesday from 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral home.
