Obituary

Donald Lannoye, 92, Killdeer, ND formerly of Minot, died Sunday, October 20, 2019 in a Killdeer nursing home.

Donald was born August 10, 1927 in Churchs Ferry, North Dakota to Constant "George" and Lilly (Severson) Lannoye. He was raised and educated in Churchs Ferry, graduating with the high school class of 1946.

Donald was united in marriage to Lois Nord in Devils Lake, ND on February 9, 1947. They made their home in Pleasant Lake, ND while he gained experience as an elevator manager. They followed the grain to Souris, ND in June 1953, where he would manage the GTA Elevator until February 1975. While a resident of Souris, he was active in the community as an Assistant Boy Scout Leader, Clerk of the School Board and as a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. He was a member of the Souris Fire Department, where he served as Chief for many years. Donald also helped to organize the rural fire protection district for the area.

Donald transferred to the track office and worked as a grain buyer in Crookston, MN and also in Grand Forks, ND on March 21, 1978. He became part of the Grain Terminal Association (GTA) regional office on January 1, 1980 when he moved to Minot, serving 10 years in the Magic City until his retirement on January 2, 1990. Lois passed away on April 11, 2010.

Donald was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and the Golden K Kiwanis in Minot. He enjoyed the outdoors and was often found with a fishing pole or firearm in his hand. He also enjoyed playing cards and spending time with family and friends.

Donald is survived by his children Connie Bachmeier, Henning, MN, Karen (Lorin) Dvirnak, Killdeer, ND and William 'Bill' (Jane) Lannoye, Elbow Lake, MN; 6 grandchildren, Duane (Sue Devries) Morlock, Renee (Steve) Lindecker, Brent (Breanna) Bachmeier, Lori (Martin) Lundblad, Juanita (Jon-Paul) Steenbakkers, Donald (Brittany) Lannoye; 13 great-grandchildren, Amanda Bachmeier, Cody Christensen, Parker Christensen, Haylee Christensen, Jerzay Bachmeier, Jaricha Bachmeier, Mark Bachmeier, Kohen Bachmeier, Zane Bachmeier, Micah Lundblad, Benjamin Lundblad, Nadia Steenbakkers and Lucas Steenbakkers; brother-in-law Lyder Nord; sisters-in-law Joyce Nord and Donna Lannoye along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Donald was preceded in death by his parents, wife Lois, infant son James, granddaughter Michelle Morlock, daughter-in-law Marcella Lannoye, sister Verna Brastrup and brothers Merland and Glenn Lannoye.

Celebration of Donald's Life: 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 25, 2019 at Zion Lutheran Church, Minot
Interment: Churchs Ferry Cemetery, Churchs Ferry, North Dakota
Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 24, 2019 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
Memorials are preferred in lieu of flowers to an organization of the donor's choice.
