Donald Heinze, 81, Parshall Bay formerly of Deering, died Tuesday, December 22, 2020 in a Minot hospital.

Donald was born January 26, 1939 in Minot, ND to Alfred and Johanna (Petschke) Heinze. He was raised and educated in Minot, ND.

He married Laurie (Johnson) Heinze on April 25,1959 at Little Flower Catholic Church in Minot. They made their home in Minot, Deering, and Parshall Bay.

Donald was employed by Farmers Union Oil Company and retired from Minot Public Schools as a bus mechanic in 1998. In his early years he was active in the HVH (Heinze Varty Harstad) Arena in Ruthville as a steer roper with his close friends.

Donald and Laurie were blessed with eight children. Their home was always filled with much laughter and activity. Everyone was always welcomed in their home. Donald's hobbies included fishing, hunting, pull tabs, going to the casino with his beloved Laurie, family, and friends. He loved watching black and white western movies. He was an avid "Donny Schatz" fan and his greatest joy was when he could go to the sprint car races with his children and grandchildren. He loved the outdoors and passed that love down to his children and grandchildren. The best of times were all the camping and fishing trips that were taken. His home and yard were open to everyone who came to the lake.

Donald's loving family includes: children, Ronald (Lori) Heinze, Rick (Linda) Heinze, Robert (Lisa) Heinze, Robin (Lyle) Johnson, Ryan (Ashley) Heinze, Rocky Heinze, and Rusty (Angie) Heinze; grandchildren: Kyle (Kelly) Heinze, Dylan (Danielle) Heinze, Trevor Heinze; Ashley Wick, Rachael (Jason) Pebworth; Chase (Kassandra) Heinze; Tycyn (Jeff) Rodgers, Thane Johnson; Christian, Sophie, and Heidi Heinze; Chloe Heinze; Devin and DeAnna Heinze; 14 great grandchildren; sister: Ardyth Merck; brothers and sisters-in-law: Elayne (Harold) Wald, Richard (Diana) Johnson, Kenneth (Laurel) Johnson, Karen Beck and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
