Derald Larson, 90, Minot and formerly of Ryder died on Thursday, May 30, 2019 in a Minot hospital.

Derald Winston Larson was born on December 8, 1928 on the family farm in Gate Township of McLean County near Ryder, ND to Oscar and Bertha (Hauge) Larson. He was raised on the family farm, educated at rural schools in the Centerville, ND area and graduated from Ryder High School in 1948. As a young adult he was employed at Harry's Tire Service and Winston and Newell Wholesale Grocery.

Derald married Beverly Roberts on March 19, 1949 in Minot. They made their home on a farm in Ryder Township of Ward County from 1949 until 1996. They moved to Minot in 1996 following 43 years of farming. Derald and Beverly had spent the winter months in Mesa, AZ from 1991 until 2008.

Derald was currently a member of Bread of Life Lutheran Church and a former member of St. John's Lutheran Church - Ryder and served on the church councils of both churches. He was a member of the Ryder Historical Society, Farmer's Union Oil Board of Directors, Centerville School Board, Ryder Senior Citizens, Ryder Credit Union Board of Directors and was the Ryder Township Treasurer for 40 years. He especially enjoyed traveling and carpentry.

Derald's loving family includes his wife of 70 years Beverly; children: Marilyn (Bill) Franklin of Minot, Galen (Lynell) Larson of Ryder, Laurel Myers of Minot and Carey Larson of Ryder; nine grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren, and four great great grandchildren; sister, Ardis Neshem, of Minot and sister-in-law, Vivian Larson, of Kettle River, MN and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Derald was preceded in death by his parents, son-in-law, Garlan Myers, brother, LaVerne Larson and brother-in-law, Ronald Neshem.

Celebration of the Life of Derald Larson: 11:00 AM, Wednesday, June 5, 2019 in Bread of Life Lutheran Church - Minot.
Interment will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens - Minot.
Visitation: Tuesday, June 4, 2019 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM in Thomas Family funeral Home - Minot.
Memorials are preferred to the Ryder Historical Society or Bread of Life Lutheran Church - Minot.
