Dennis Armand Oothoudt, 79, lifetime Minot resident, died Tuesday, May 12, 2020 at his home surrounded by his loving family and hospice.
Dennis was born April 14, 1941 at Minot, North Dakota, the son of Maynard and Eleanor (Rebische) Oothoudt. He was raised and educated in Minot and graduated from Minot High School in 1959. He graduated from Minot State University in 1964 with a degree in elementary education in Music and a minor in History.
Dennis was united in marriage to Betty Nestingen on December 23, 1961 in Minot. Dennis began his teaching career with Minot Public Schools, first teaching at Dakota Elementary at the Minot Air Force Base and later at Bel Air Elementary and Lewis & Clark Elementary. He retired in 2002.
Dennis was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Minot, where he was active with Bible study groups. He was a former member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church, where he had served as president of the Church Council and Elder. He enjoyed reading scripture, traveling, watching Minnesota Twins baseball, along with watching his grandchildren's sporting events.
His loving family includes: wife of 58 years, Betty Oothoudt, Minot; sons, Todd Oothoudt, Atlanta, GA, Brad (Camille) Oothoudt, Minot and Scott (Miranda) Oothoudt, Mandan; 8 grandchildren to include: Ashley, Joshua, Hunter, Tanner, Nathan, Mari, Brynn and Reed; 2 great grandchildren to include: Jackston and Jett; brother, Kipton (Marlys) Oothoudt, New Richmond, WI; sister, Nona Mosvick, St Paul, MN; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Dennis was preceded in death by his parents, grandson, Cullen Oothoudt, brothers, Marvin and Maynard "Buster" Oothoudt; sisters, Delores & Elaine and a brother in law, Roger Mosvick.
Funeral service:
Utilizing CDC guidelines with social distancing practices, the service will take place on Friday, May 15, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. in St Paul's Lutheran Church, Minot. A livestream of the service will take place by accessing:

: Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot.
Limited Visitation:
At his request, there will not be a viewing, however friends are encouraged through social distancing to sign a memorial register book on Thursday, May 14
th
from 4:00-6:00 p.m.in the Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
Memorials:
In lieu of flowers or plants, memorials are preferred to St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Brave the Shave or Trinity Hospice.
