Obituary

Dennis Kerbaugh , 64, Minot, formerly of Ray, died Wednesday in a Minot hospital.

Dennis was born on June 29, 1949 to Walter K. and Grace (Hartsoch) Kerbaugh in Minot, ND. He was raised in Ray, ND and graduated from Ray High School in May, 1967. He attended college at NDSCS in Wahpeton, ND. He was drafted into the US Army in 1969. He was wounded in the Vietnam Conflict and was honorably discharged earning a Purple Heart.

Dennis Married Patty Melland on March 18, 1972 in Wheelock, ND. They made a home in Ray, ND where they raised their two children. Levi was born on May 3, 1977 and Marcy was born on October 23, 1979. Dennis was a carpenter and a "fix it all" kind of man. He spent countless hours out in the garage that he built working on numerous projects and vehicles. When Levi was old enough he would spend hours hanging out and learning how to "fix" things, mainly vehicles with his dad. Dennis was always the "brave one", he proved this not only in the war, but when he spent several hours teaching Marcy how to drive. In his later years he would often ask her "where did you learn to drive?"

Dennis moved to Minot, ND around 2002 and spent a lot of his time at the Moose Lodge. He made several great friends spending time there and especially enjoyed playing a good game of pool (we hear he was pretty hard to beat). He also joined pool leagues at other establishments over the years. Dennis also had a soft spot for the "ladies of the moose" who he would have "date nights" with. We know that he had a special place for them in his heart and appreciated everything they did for him.

Dennis was a very caring man who would help anyone. He often donated what he could to people whether it was by giving his time or financially. He was always there for his children when they needed him (even if he was always telling them that they never listened to him).

Dennis is survived by his son, Levi Kerbaugh of Tioga, ND; daughter, Marcy (Daniel) Hilzendeger of Lincoln, ND; "wife" Patty Kerbaugh of Ray, ND. Sisters: Leona LaJoie of Colorado Springs, CO; Nita (Mike) Hepper of Richland, WA; Coleen (Jerry) Perdue of Nye, MT; Sharon Kerbaugh of West Richland, WA; Karen (Harold) Sundhagen of Tioga, ND; and a brother, Raymond Kerbaugh of Prescott, AZ. Along with numerous cousins, nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles.

Dennis was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
