Dennis Hegreberg , 71, of rural Burlington, North Dakota passed away on Sunday, April 15, 2012, at Saint Elizabeth's Healthcare in Delphi, Indiana.
Dennis was born on April 7, 1941, the son of Clifford S. Hegreberg and Angeline (Buee) Hegreberg. He was raised and worked on the family farm in Burt Township of Ward County. Dennis graduated from Minot Senior High School in 1959. He was a member of the First Presbyterian church. He was active in 4-H and local community affairs.
Dennis farmed in Burt Township on the family farm after graduation from high school until 1983. Following his retirement from farming, he worked in Minot at the Home of Economy and drove taxi in Minot. He also drove bus for the Minot Commission on Aging and the Parker Senior Center.
Dennis enjoyed outdoor activities, including hunting, fishing, and gardening. He was an avid collector of antiques and frequently attended area farm auctions. Dennis loved North Dakota and was a true steward of its land and wildlife. Those closest to him remember him as private, quiet, kind and thoughtful.
Dennis had a stroke in January of 2011. He fought a valiant fight without complaint and succumbed after a prolonged illness. He will be missed by all who shared in his life.
Dennis is survived by his mother, Angeline Hegreberg of Merced, California; brother, Gerald (Lynetta) Hegreberg of West Lafayette, Indiana; sister, Judith (Richard) Marchini and their four children, Amie, Sara, Rick, and Laura. He is also survived by many relatives and friends, especially in the Minot area.
He is preceded in death by his father.
Memorial service: 10:00 a.m. Friday, May 18, 2012 at First Presbyterian Church, Minot.
Interment: Sunset Memorial Gardens, Minot, ND.
