Deloris Stenvold, 89, Minot, died peacefully on Saturday, May 28, 2016 in her home with her daughters at her side.
Deloris Mae Signalness was born on February 24, 1927 in Glenwood, MN to Oscar and Hannah (Swensrud) Signalness. She was born in their home and her big sister, Mildred, made her a homemade dress because she was so happy to have a sister! She was raised and educated in Glenwood.
Memories of her childhood days included simple games of "Hopscotch," "Jacks," "Anti-I-Over" and "Captain May I." A highlight of her childhood (9 years old) was winning a Shirley Temple doll during a Merchants promotion.
Deloris married Joseph Stenvold on October 7, 1942 in Glenwood, MN and the family moved to Minot in 1948. They had six children. Deloris was employed at Woolworth's Department Store, Kresge Variety Store, ABC and Gimse Cleaners, Spain's Produce, Elks Lodge in Minot for 22 years as a telephone and door monitor and at the Embassy as a coat check person. Joe died on October 3, 1985.

She was a proud and active member and social director of the Sons of Norway- Thor Lodge and also a member of the Women of the Moose, Eagles Auxiliary and the ND Association for the Blind.
When Deloris was 30 years old, she became visually impaired and after several surgeries in NY City, she lost one eye in 1960. On September 16, 1992 at the University of Minnesota, she received a cornea transplant and cataract implant in her right eye. Through the Lord and her doctor, she was blessed with sight again at age 65.
Deloris loved to spend time with family and friends and visit on the phone with them. She was always willing to make food for others, especially lemon meringue pie, which sold quickly at the Sons of Norway bake sales. She loved to dance, especially the Polka. If a travel opportunity became available, she was always anxious to participate.
