Obituary

Delores Odell, 84, Minot and formerly of Anamoose and Balfour died on Thursday, July 28, 2016 in a Minot assisted living facility.

Delores was born on February 21, 1932 near Anamoose, ND to Jacob and Lydia (Ammon) Oster. The family moved to a farm near Balfour where Delores lived with her nine brothers and two sisters until she came to Minot in 1951. She was employed as a telephone operator for Bell Telephone and as a receptionist for the McCannell Clinic.

Delores married Roger Odell on November 29, 1953, and became a fulltime wife, mother and homemaker. They had four children, Jeff, Jim, Julie and JoAnn, three grandchildren, Alison, Shanti and Kali, and one great grandchild, Addison.

Delores was active in many organizations, including the Minot Country Club, PTA, and First Presbyterian Church, where she served as a Deacon, Sunday School and Bible School teacher. She served in the Volunteers In Service To Education (VISE) program and was active in the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts organizations. Also, she was a member of the PEO Sisterhood. Delores and Roger enjoyed participating in the economic development of the Minot area through Roger's business interests: Odell-Wentz and Associates, Inland National Securities, Investors Management and Marketing (IMM) and Investors Real Estate Trust (IRET) and Minot Area Community Foundation.

In 1985, Delores and Roger became "snow birds" joining many of their friends from Minot in Mesa, AZ for the winter months. Delores enjoyed playing cards, especially bridge, pinochle and rummy. In 2006, Delores and Roger moved to the Wellington. After Roger's passing in 2007, Delores moved to the Brentmoor and was assisted by many caring and devoted caregivers for whom she and her family will always be grateful.

Delores is survived by her daughters: Julie Odell of Portland, OR, and JoAnn Odell of Pompano Beach, FL; sons: Jeff Odell (Michelle Miller) of Omaha, NE and Jim Odell of Nevada; grandchildren: Allison Weaver and Shanti and Kali Odell; great grandchild: Addison Loomis; sister: Eleanor Neuhalfen of Minot; brothers: Jerry Oster of Minot, Eugene Oster of Drake, Orville Oster of Carrington and numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, and cousins.
