DeLila Ruth (Zahn) Bachmeier, 88, formerly of Minot, died Friday, June 11, 2021, at Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center in Bismarck.

DeLila was born March 11, 1933, on the family farm near Gardena, ND the daughter and youngest child of Emil and Deno (Zorn) Zahn.  She was raised on the farm and educated at country schools prior to graduating from Gardena High School in 1951. She attended the North Dakota State School of Forestry at Bottineau and received a secretarial training course.

DeLila was once married to William Bachmeier in 1970.  They made their home in Minot, where she was employed in secretarial positions at the North Dakota ASCS office, for a local automobile dealership and at St. Joseph's Hospital.

She became a daycare provider in Minot from 1975-1987 and took loving care of many children throughout those years.  She was later employed as the telemarketing supervisor with the Easter Seal Society for several years, a title she was very proud of.  Her final place of employment was with the local chapter of the American Red Cross.  She retired at the age of 79!  Her heartbreaking battle with Alzheimer's caused her son to move her to Bismarck in 2019 to be closer to him and so he could assist with her care.

DeLila was a charter member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church, Minot. She volunteered in several capacities within the church, her favorite of which was singing in the church choir.   She enjoyed cooking, baking, gardening and loved tending to her flowers.  DeLila treasured time spent with her grandchildren and remained steadfast in her faith her entire life. She passed a tender heart to her sons and will remain a precious gift to us in our memories.

Her loving family includes : her son, Kirk Bachmeier and his fiancé, Melodie and her children Dalton and Meghan of Bismarck; daughter-in-law Renee Zahn and grandchildren Ranee, Zechariah, Mollee and Emilee of Lincoln, ND; stepdaughters Jeanette Bachmeier, VeeAnn Koapke and Valerie Stadheim all of Minot.

DeLila was preceded in death by her parents; son, Joel Zahn; brothers, Art, Elmer, Raymond and sisters, Adeline and Mildred.
