Delane "Dee" Thompson

Delane Thompson passed away on Friday, April 10, 2026 at her residence.

Delane Amelia (Schauer) Thompson was born July 31, 1947 to parents Theodore and Lucille (Will) Schauer. She was raised and educated in Wishek and Steele/Dawson before graduating from Steele High School in 1964.

Following high school, Dee began her career as a nurse’s assistant in Wishek. She lived in various places before moving to Minot in 1970. Once in Minot, she continued working as a nurse’s assistant. In 1980, she earned her Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) license. She was once married to Orville “Shorty” Gibson in 1968.

Throughout her career, she worked at Trinity Nursing Home, Trinity Hospital, and then at Manor Care from 1993 until 2017. She was most recently employed at The View in Minot. Her work in healthcare reflected her deep kindness and unwavering dedication to helping others.

Dee was united in marriage to Gerald Thompson on December 7, 1981. He passed away on July 15, 2015.

Dee could be described as a woman of strong faith. she was a devoted member of the Baptist Immanuel Church. In her free time, Dee enjoyed bowling, reading, sewing, camping, woodworking, and traveling. She especially enjoyed quilting and doing embroidery work, as well as spending time with her family.

Dee is survived by: her children, Corinna (Keith) Lemer of Max, ND, and DeeDee (Marshall) Carroll of West Virginia; daughter-in-law, Dori Gibson of Copperas Cove, TX; siblings, Alvin (Verina) Schauer of Bismarck, ND, Connie Schauer of Lincoln, ND, Fred (Deb) Schauer of Arizona, Mary Ulven of Grand Rapids, MI, and Mike Schauer of Mandan, ND; grandchildren, Kasie Wiley, Marshall Carroll Jr., Thea Shapiro, Aden Shapiro, Cohl Jorgenson, Dillan Gibson, Joseph Gibson, Suerae Mounce, and Sariah Trayah; great-grandchildren, Aubrey Carroll, Marlie Carroll, Austin Whitman, Maverick Wiley, Sofia Carroll, Aroura Gibson, and Thomas Mounce; along with numerous extended family members.

Dee was preceded in death by: her parents; son, Theodore Gibson; grandson, Thomas Gibson; and brothers, Harold Gibson and William (Bill) Schauer.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, April 16, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Immanuel Baptist Church, Minot. A livestream of the funeral service will be available at the following link: https://ibcminot.org/watch 

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 15, 2026, from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. in the Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.

Burial will take place at Rosehill Memorial Park in Minot.

In lieu of plants and flowers, memorials are preferred to the family.
