Obituary

DeEtte Ferguson, 87, Minot, died Thursday, November 16, 2017, in a Minot nursing home.

DeEtte was born August 22, 1930, on a farm in Little Deep Township of McHenry County, near Deering, ND to August and Iva (Bauch) Grondahl. She was raised in the Deering area and educated in the Grilley Township School. She learned the value of hard work as a youth while she assisted her family with the daily operation of the farm. She learned to milk, was part of the harvest crew and an integral part of the household chores that needed to be done.

At the age of 16, DeEtte moved to Minot. She was employed in the dietary department of Trinity Hospital. DeEtte was once married to Joe Stredwick in 1950. This union was blessed with a daughter, Deborah.

DeEtte moved to the state of Washington in 1956. She was employed at Seattle's Providence Hospital as a dietary aide for three years until she joined Travelodge Hotels in the housekeeping department.

She was united in marriage for twenty years to Reece Ferguson, who blessed her with a step daughter, Sherry and a step son, Kim.

DeEtte returned to Minot in 1982 and continued in the hotel industry with a position in housekeeping with the Days Inn. She worked until 1991 when she was forced to retire due to a back injury. She became a resident of Trinity Homes in 2011.

DeEtte enjoyed watching television, collecting hummingbirds and was known to enjoy cookies and coffee most every day.

Her surviving family includes, daughter, Deborah Triggs, Minot; step daughter, Sherry Littlefield and step son, Kim Ferguson; grandchildren, Robert Jr. (Val) Littlefield and Cynthia Pacheco; great-grandchildren, Joshua Triggs and Christian Pacheco; brother, Myron (Cheryl) Grondahl, Bismarck; sister-in-law, Sharon Grondahl, Minot along with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

DeEtte was preceded in death by her parents and sisters, DeMaris Pfau, Dolores Stredwick, Doris Welstad and Darlene Welstad and brother, Eugene 'Bud' Grondahl.

Funeral Service: 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 21, 2017 at Trinity Nursing Home Chapel, Minot.
Interment: Sunset Memorial Gardens, Minot.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the start of the service at the nursing home.
Memorials are preferred.
