Deborah 'Debbie' Stewart, 73, Minot, died Friday, January 8, 2021 in a Minot Healthcare Facility.
Deborah was born August 8, 1947 at Littleton, Colorado, the daughter of Raymond and Marjorie (Jones) Barnes. She was raised and educated in Littleton and graduated from Cherry Creek High School. Debbie attended the University of Hawaii for year and a half and later graduated with a degree in medical records from Stephens Women's College in Columbia, Missouri.
In 1973, Debbie took her first job as a nursing home administrator in Minneapolis, MN. She held that position until 1985, moving to North Dakota to serve as administrator of the Mandan Villas for a couple years until moving to Minot. She was the administrator for the Americana Healthcare Center (later ManorCare) for several years. In addition to her full-time position, Debbie served on the North Dakota State Licensing Board for Nursing Homes for several years.
Debbie married Jim Stewart in 1993 in St. Augustine, Florida. They spent ten winters in Casa Grande, AZ and many two week vacations in the Grand Cayman Islands, one of their special places to visit. Camping and fishing at Lake Sakakawea was a staple of summer activities for many years and later in life many rounds of golf were played as a couple. Debbie and Jim shared a love of caring for exotic birds in their home. They hand fed several batches of birds but always treasured the beautifully colored Sun Conures most. Debbie will be missed deeply by all who were blessed to share in her life.
Debbie's loving family includes , husband, Jim Stewart, Minot; step-children, Brenda Studley (Frazier) Scott of Huntington Beach, CA; Brian (Michele) Stewart, Grand Rapids, MI and Bridget (Daniel) Smith, Chandler, AZ; 7 grandchildren, Grant, Alec, Ian, Isaac, Noelle, Sophia and Bennett and brother, Pete Barnes of Colorado.
