Debora Powell Dias, 50, of Minot, beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister, and friend, passed away on Monday, January 5, 2026, at a hospital in Minneapolis, surrounded by the love she spent her life giving so freely.
Born on November 4, 1975, in Kingston, Jamaica, Debora was the cherished daughter of Vincent and Harrilet Powell. She was raised and educated in Horizon Park and Portmore, St. Catherine, Jamaica, where her life was shaped by faith, family, and a deep sense of what it means to care for others. Jamaica was not just where she began. It lived in her spirit, in her warmth, her strength, and her joy.
In 2010, Debora moved to Hamden, Connecticut, and in November 2016 she made her home in Minot. No matter where she lived, Debora had a remarkable gift for making people feel seen and comforted. She offered kindness without hesitation, love without condition, and reassurance in moments when it was needed most.
Debora's life was one of service and purpose. She began her healthcare journey as a CNA and, through determination and perseverance, completed her education to become a registered nurse, an achievement she was deeply proud of. She served her community at Trinity Health, first in the Psychiatric Unit and most recently in the GI Unit. To be in Debora's care was to be met with compassion, dignity, and calm. She had a way of easing fear and bringing peace simply by being present.
On September 24, 2022, Debora married Jason Dias at West Minot Church of God. Together, they built a life full of love, laughter, and adventure, traveling throughout the United States, visiting national parks and historical sites, and creating memories that will be treasured forever. Their marriage was rooted in companionship, faith, and shared wonder, a love that felt steady and true.
Debora's faith was the foundation of her life. She loved reading the Bible, worshiping at church, and spending time with her family, moments filled with laughter, reflection, and deep connection. She poured her heart into those she loved, and her legacy lives on in the lives she touched, the care she gave, and the love she leaves behind.
Debora will be lovingly remembered by her husband, Jason Dias of Minot; her daughters, Nia Marie and Jamila of Minot; her son, Matthew of Minot; her parents, Vincent and Harrilet Powell of Connecticut and Jamaica; her brothers, Hanif of Texas and Norval of New York; her sisters, Marie Phillips and Natasha Powell of Connecticut, and Meriab Bent of Florida; and her many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, brothers and sisters in law, and dear friends.
Though her passing leaves a profound emptiness, Debora's life remains a beautiful testimony of faith, perseverance, and love. She will be missed beyond measure and remembered always.
