David R. Weston, 64, Starkweather, ND, formerly of Minot, ND, and Woodburn, OR, passed away Monday, May 10, 2010 in a Grand Forks Hospital.

Dave was born October 22, 1945 to Glenn and Dorothy (Penni) Weston in Portland, OR. His family moved around Oregon for many years while Dave was young. In 1962 he enlisted into the Navy at the age of 17. Dave proudly served his country in 2 tours in the Vietnam Conflict as a cook and gunner receiving his honorable discharge in 1968.

In 1969 Dave was united in marriage to Pat Beverly. Their union was blessed with their daughter Dorothy. Dave worked multiple jobs to provide for his family. He also worked for the Bureau of Land Management in Oregon from 1980 to 1984. Pat passed away in 1998.

Dave met Kathy Kvelstad in Alaska in 1997. They moved to Colton, OR in 1998 with Kathy's daughter, Katie. They left Oregon and moved to Minot on Thanksgiving Day, 2002, where Dave worked for Bob's Maintenance Company. He retired early at the age of 62 so he could enjoy his favorite activities. Dave and Kathy moved to Starkweather in February of 2010.

Dave's hobbies included hunting, fishing, fixing boats, yard work, helping people, and spending time with his dog Boomer.

His loving family includes : daughter, Dorothy Clark, Kelso, WA; his significant other, Kathy Kvelstad, Starkweather, and her children, Katie (Frank) Newsome, Minot, Michelle Grubb, Minot, Korey Kvelstad, Webster, and Shawn Kvelstad, Devils Lake; his step-children Trina, Jeff, and Jodie; brothers Joe (Carol) Weston, Pineville, OR, Mark (Kathryn) Stegemeyer, Portland, OR, and James (Deborah) Stegemeyer, Gresham, OR.

Dave was preceded in death by his parents, wife, step-father Ernie Stegemeyer, brother, Glenn, sisters, Darlene, Sharon, and his wife's son Billy.

Visitation: Friday from noon to 5:00 pm in Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
