David Michael "Bubba" Bauer was born on September 20, 1945 in Brooklyn, Ohio to Joseph and Mary (Semanick) Bauer.  David's mother died in childbirth so his aunts, Rose and Ethel, and father and stepmother Margaret raised him.  David was raised and educated in Brooklyn and graduated from Brooklyn High School in 1963.  He enlisted in the United States Air Force on August 20, 1964.  He served with the Strategic Air Command's 862nd Security Police Squadron at the Minot Air Force Base prior to his honorable discharge as a Sergeant on August 19, 1968.

David married Jeanne Pals of Minot on June 7, 1969 at St. Thomas More Church in Brooklyn, OH.  They made their home in Shefield Lake, Ohio where he was employed as a computer programmer by American Greetings.  They returned to Minot in 1974 to raise their family and David was employed as a carman by the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad until his retirement in 2007.  Following his retirement he moved to Wilmington, NC with his partner Dave Leischer.  They lived there for several years prior to returning to Minot for health reasons.

Bubba especially enjoyed time in the kitchen and on his computer.  He was well-known for entertaining friends and neighbors in the backyard or on his patio with good food and drink.

David is survived by his wife: Jeanne; partner: Dave Leischer; children: Sean (Ann) Bauer of Minot and Danielle (Jason) Petty of North Pole AK; grandchildren: Jenda, Briana, Kendra and Erika; five great grandchildren; brothers: Robert (Pat) Bauer and Phil Bauer, sister-in-law Linda Bauer, brother in law Dick (Hallie) Pals and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
