Darrel Fimreite, 88, Norwich, died Saturday, October 14, 2023, in a Souris Valley Care Center in Velva.
Darrel was born December 20, 1934, in Minot, ND, to Selmer and Ethel (Orth) Fimreite. He was raised and educated in Norwich and graduated from Norwich High School in 1953.
Darrel married Patricia Selfors on April 27, 1957, at Zion Lutheran Church, Minot. They lived in Minot until moving to Norwich, ND. They had seven children: Mark, Gayle, Pamela, Clark, Lana, Carol, and Ted. They were married 54 years until Patricia passed away in 2011.
Darrel was employed at Fargo Glass, a member of the Painter Local Union, Swanson and Youngdale, and Westlie Motors. Darrel continued his employment as a painter until his retirement.
Darrel continued to reside in Norwich and was a member of Norwich Lutheran Church. He enjoyed spending time with his family especially his children and grandchildren. In his spare time, Darrel had an interest in western books and shows, being outdoors, gardening, and sweets.
Darrel is survived by children: Mark (Julie) Fimreite, Gayle (Kathy) Fimreite, all Minot, Pamela Fimreite, Redmond, WA, Clark Fimreite, Bismarck, Lana (Calvin) Medler, Granville, Carol (Earl) Wagner, Minot, and Ted (Rachelle), Norwich; grandchildren Eric (Ami) Fimreite, Keith (Shannon) Fimreite, Angie (Tyler) Klein, Michael, Amanda, and Melissa Fimreite, Candis (Hal) Goodman, Crystal (Matt) Jameson, Dean (Amanda) Wittmayer, Amy Wittmayer, Wyatt and Lilly Fimreite; great grandchildren: Justin Fimreite, Mataya and Kane Klein, Kase, Ryatt, and Halle Goodman, Aubree and Ella Jameson, Jaxon Hollingsworth; step-grandchildren Rachael Brown, Megan (Josh) Buskuehl and Tanner (Michelle) Wagner; great step-grandchildren: Andria Davis, Antonio and Erik Perez, Haley and Charleigh Buskuehl; sister Sandy (John) Lawmaster, Dale City, VA; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Darrel was preceded in death by Patricia; parents; and brothers, Dean and Neil.

Visitation
: November 2, 2023, from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at the Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
Memorials are preferred to Norwich Lutheran Church or Norwich Lutheran Church Cemetery.
