Darrel Bland , 67, Minot, formerly of Antler and Westhope, died November 11, 2024, at his home.

Darrel was born on September 10, 1957 in Minot, ND to Donald and Ida Mae (Brooks) Bland. He was raised in Antler, ND until 1974 when the family moved to Westhope, ND, where he graduated with honors in 1975.

Darrel joined the US Navy in the fall of 1975 and retired in 1995, after honorably serving his country for twenty years. He was stationed overseas in London, England and Okinawa, Japan. While overseas, he enjoyed traveling around Europe. He attended the University of Maryland European Division and graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Management in 1992.

Following his retirement from the Navy, Darrel was employed at Cloverdale Meats for a time until he went to work for the United States Postal Service. After twenty years he retired in October 2022.

Darrel is survived by his brother Larry (Brenda) Bland, Peoria, IL, sister Carolyn (Steve) Perry, Burlington, ND, nieces Carin, Colleen, Lisa, Sarah and Amber and nephew Christopher.

Darrell was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.

A gathering of family and friends will be held on Sunday, November 17, 2024 from 2:00-4:00 p.m. in the Minot Moose Lodge.

The graveside service with military honors will be held on Monday, November 18, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery in Mandan, ND.
