Daron B. Held, 60, Minot, formerly of Devils Lake, ND, died Tuesday, August 13, 2013 in a Minot Hospital.

Daron was born March 9, 1953 at Devils Lake, the son of Fred Jr. and Margaret "Peggy" (Birnie) Held. He was raised at Rock Lake during his younger years and moved with his family to Devils Lake in 1963. He graduated from Devils Lake Central High School in 1971 and spent one year at Lake Region College in Devils Lake studying carpentry work.

Daron entered into active duty service with the U.S. Navy on June 6, 1973 and honorably served his country in Guam, Okinawa, Japan and Spain until receiving his honorable discharge on June 20, 1977. After returning to North Dakota, he became employed with Gamble Robinson in Devils Lake and worked there until being transferred to Minot in 1984 when that branch closed. He has continued to work with the company now Food Services Inc as a warehouse receiving clerk. Daron was once married to Linda Penny. From this union his four children were born.

Daron was an avid hunter and fisherman. He loved being on his boat, going to auctions, working at his house and garden along with telling jokes or playing a prank on someone. He and Inez attended the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Minot.

His loving family includes ; companion, Inez Boyko, Minot; children, Taska Held and her boyfriend, Travis of Watertown, SD, Danika Held and her boyfriend, Jeffrey of Minot, Makesha (Brandon) Fettig, Mesa, AZ, and Kyler Held, Minot; grandchildren, Mataya and Trenton Held; sisters, Kristi (Arne) Berg, Starkweather, ND and Yvonne Kearns, Asheboro, NC; brothers, John Held of Concord, CA and Don (Kate) Held, Everett, WA.

Daron was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Douglas; brothers in law, Joe Kearns and Mitch Hagan and a sister in law, Donna Held.

Funeral service : Monday, August 19, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. in the Seventh Day Adventist Church, located at 10 17th Ave SW, Minot.
Graveside service : Monday at 3:00 pm. in the Bisbee Cemetery.
Visitation: Sunday from 1:00-5:00 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
In lieu of flowers or plants, memorials are preferred.
