Darold Everal Alvstad, 84, Minot, formerly of the Coulee area, died Thursday, February 1, 2018 in a Minot Hospital.
Darold was born on April 16, 1933 on the family farm in Mountrail County, North Dakota the son of Tommy and Esther (Strand) Alvstad. He was raised near Coulee and educated at Donnybrook, where he graduated from Donnybrook High School. He was once married to Eileen Blohm.
Darold farmed in the Coulee area until 1966, when he moved to Springfield, OR, where he worked at the Weyerhauser lumber mill as a millwright. He retired in 1997 and returned to live in North Dakota on the family farm in Coulee. He was married to Elaine Olson and she preceded him in death.
Darold was a member of the Minot Moose Lodge and Sons of Norway. He enjoyed Polka dances, was a huge fan of Lawrence Welk and an avid carpenter.
His loving family includes , children, Doris (Perry) Wafer, Eugene, OR, Marie (Bruce) Fisher, Troutdale, OR and Brian (Kristin) Alvstad, Jamestown, NC; 9 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; and sister, Sharon Miller, Springfield, OR.
Darold was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Elaine, and sisters, Delma and Lorraine.
Graveside service
: Wednesday, February 7, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. in St. Luke's Cemetery, rural Coulee.
Gathering and Fellowship
: Wednesday from 4:00-6:00 p.m. at Darold's residence located at 1509 35th Ave SW Minot.
