Darlene Jane Hennessy, 78, Minot, died Tuesday, March 13, 2012 in a Mesa Hospice Care Center.

Darlene was born July 18, 1933 at Harvey, ND, the daughter of John and Hertha (Liebelt) Alexander. She was raised on the family farm south of Martin and educated at Harvey, graduating from Harvey High School in 1951. She attended beautician's school at the New York Hairdressing Academy in Fargo in 1952.

Darlene was united in marriage to Leo Hennessy on November 27, 1953 at Sidney, MT. They made their home in Minot, where she worked at Reinarts-Mathison Beauty Shop for several years. Along with raising their two sons, Darlene also was employed as a cashier for Minot Public Schools from 1976 until her retirement in 1993. Leo and Darlene enjoyed traveling and had spent many winters in Arizona since 1993.

Darlene was a longtime member of Christ Lutheran Church, Minot and the Souris Valley Ladies Golf Association.

Her loving family includes, husband of fifty-eight years, Leo; sons, Leo Hennessy, Boise, ID, and Delwyn (Monica) Hennessy, Austin, MN; grandchildren, Jenny and Kristen Hennessy; brother, Dennis (Delores) Alexander, Sautee-Nacoochee, GA; several nieces and nephews.

Darlene was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Eunice Alexander.

Celebration of Life service: Wednesday, March 21, 2012 at 2:30 in Bethany Lutheran Church, Minot.

Interment: Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot.

Visitation : At the request of family, there will not be any reviewal, however friends may sign a memorial register book on Tuesday from 2:00-7:00 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.

Memorials are preferred to the American Cancer Society, Christ Lutheran Church Flood Restoration Fund or a charity of the donor's choice.
