Daniel "Dan" Orluck, 80, Minot, longtime Makoti area farmer, entered eternal life with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, December 20, 2016.

Dan was born September 7, 1936 on a farm near Makoti, North Dakota, the son of William and Mary (Versolenko) Orluck. He was raised on the family farm in Orlien Township of Ward County and graduated from Makoti High School in 1954. He attended UND for a year before returning home to farm with his family.

Dan was united in marriage to Geraldine (Jeannie) Hovda on October 12, 1958 at First Baptist Church in Minot. They made their home on the farm near Makoti where in addition to raising their four children, they grew small grains and raised cattle. Jeannie died of cancer in 1978.

Dan was united in marriage to Marlys Strube on December 29, 1978 and they continued farming until Dan started crop adjusting for Rural Community Insurance Services. In 2005 they moved to Minot. Dan retired in 2006.

Dan was an active member of First Baptist Church, where he served on a number of Committees. In addition, he served on many community committees in Makoti, Minot and the state.

Dan loved to travel, and went on a number of mission trips to Panama, Russia and Ukraine. Most of all he enjoyed his time with grandchildren and great grandchildren, especially when they would come for farm visits.

Dan's loving family includes: wife, Marlys, Minot; children, Cynthia (Darrell) Baklenko, Benedict; Marcia (Ken) Steinbarge, Vancouver, WA; Roger (Judi) Orluck, Elk River, MN; Gary (Jolene) Orluck, Minot. 9 grandchildren to include: Leann (Ramone) Gumke, Monica (Jonas) Carlisle; Emily (Dave) Rubins, Andrew (Olivia) Brodehl, Philip Brodehl; Amber (Marc) Olson, Pat Benson; Tom (Sarah) Orluck, Angela (Mike) Bishop; and 10 great grandchildren. Sisters-in-law, Ilene Orluck, Tioga; and Betty (Geneil) Evanchenko of Minot; Aunt Thena Bamber, Salem, OR; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Dan was preceded in death by his parents, wife Geraldine, and brothers David, Steve, Mark, Harvey and several nieces and a nephew.

Visitation will be Wednesday, January 4 from 3:00-6:00pm at Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
Celebration of Life service: Thursday, January 5, 2017 at 11:00 am at First Baptist Church, Minot. Burial at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Minot.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be given to the ministry of your choice or First Baptist Church of Minot.
