Dan Lee Zietz, 56, Minot, went to be with his lord on June 9th 2016, after a brief illness.

Dan was born August 10, 1959 in Minot, the son of Eugene and JoAnn (Pugh) Zietz. He was raised in Minot and the surrounding area, attending Minot public schools. He graduated in 1978.

Dan enjoyed many hobbies including: hunting, fishing, playing softball, and being at the lake. Dan married the love of his life Danelle Buettner on May 17th of 1980, and together they raised three daughters, who gave Dan the thing he admired the most, his 6 grandchildren.

Dan was once employed with Minot Public Schools and Glacial Holdings Inc. as their general manager before purchasing 1st Minot Management.

Dan was an active businessman in the community as the owner of 1st Minot Management. He was a member of the Minot Builders Association, Moose Lodge, and Minot Apartment Association. Dan took great pride in his work and always considered and made his employees feel like family.

Dan's biggest pride was his one and only grandson, Tristen (aka T). Dan and T shared a bond like no other and T saw him as "dad". Together they enjoyed hunting, fishing and just being together.

Dan spent his life spreading joy to others. He was well known and everyone he knew shares great memories with him. Dan loved to cook for anybody that would eat it! He enjoyed cooking for the Zietz Family Holidays, where there could be more than 40 people at times.

At the time of his death Dan & Danelle were in the process of moving into a new lake home at Lake Metigoshe. Dan was looking forward to a summer full of friends and driving his pontoon. He said he was ready to move from their place near Van Hook and settle in to the beauty of the trees up north.

Dan considered stopping at Harley's early in the morning a part of his daily duties. He said if he missed it the day just didn't go as smoothly.

Dan is survived by his wife, Danelle Zietz, Minot; three daughters: Angela Cook, Minot, Savana (Jeff) Pitcher, Velva and Tonya (Justin) Mattern, Minot; six grandchildren: Tristen Zietz, Tiara Cook, Karma & Paiton Pitcher, Karami & Maci Mattern; siblings: Kathy Holmes, MN, Gordy (Candy) Zietz, Garrison, Bruce (Colette) Zietz, MN, Kevin (Judy) Zietz, Rugby, Tommie (Tina) Zietz, Kenmare, Jamie (Lisa) Zietz, Minot, Dennis (Luanne) Zietz, Stanley, Sue (Brian) George, Minot, sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Echo and Mike Oen, Monticello, MN and sister-in-law, Sue Zietz, Minot along with many beloved nephews, nieces, great-nephews, great-nieces and cousins.

Dan is preceded in death by his parents: Eugene and Joann Zietz, brother, Eugene Zietz and brother/best friend, Mike Zietz.

Funeral Service: Tuesday, June 14, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. in St. Mark's Lutheran Church, Minot.
Visitation: Monday, June 13, 2016 from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
Memorials are preferred to the donor's choice.
