Obituary

Dale L. Norberg, 82, Minot and formerly of Butte died on Sunday in a Minot healthcare center.

Dale was born on October 19, 1932 in Butte, ND to George and Tillie (Lundbeck) Norberg. He was reared on a farm near Butte, attended rural schools and graduated from Butte High School in 1951. As a young adult he was employed at a smelter in Anaconda, MT for one year.

Dale was drafted into the U.S. Army in January of 1953 and served until his honorable discharge in December of 1954. Following his discharge he returned to his job at the smelting facility in Anaconda. He moved to Glasgow, MT where he was employed by a contractor at the air force base near Glasgow prior to moving to Minot where he was employed at Morgan and Oswood Construction Company and by the Budweiser Distributorship.

Dale began a 28 year career with the City of Minot on May 1, 1965 as an equipment operator in the maintenance department. He married Dorathy Scofield Vannett on October 27, 1971 in Minot. They made their home in Minot where Dale continued with the City of Minot until he retired on March 31, 1993. Dorathy died on July 30, 2014. Dale had continued to reside in Minot most recently at the Parker Suites after living for many years in the Emerson Apartments.

Dale was a former member of the St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Butte and was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion. He especially enjoyed spending time at his lake home on Strawberry Lake as well as gardening, reading and fishing.

Dale is survived by his stepchildren: Sharon (Edwin) Walter, Larry (Barbara) Vannett and Ronald (Pamela) Vannett all of Minot; Maynard (Mary) Vannett of Hastings MN and Claudia (Richard) Russell of Bismarck; seventeen step grandchildren; eighteen step great grandchildren; three step great great grandchildren; siblings: Floyd (Dorothy) Norberg of Illinois, Clarence (Margaret) Norberg of Florida, Jerry (Arlene) Norberg of Minot, Richard Norberg of Butte, Marjie McBeth of West Fargo and Eunice (Harvey) Tyler of Alamosa CO and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Dale was preceded in death by his parents, wife, siblings: Arnold, Glen and Earl and step great granddaughter: Alexis Walter.

Graveside Service: Thursday, June 4, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. in the Butte Community Cemetery.

Visitation: Wednesday from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home Minot.
