Dale Franklin Lewis , 70, Rural Minot, went to be with our Lord on Monday, July 19, 2010 in Trinity Hospital in Minot.
Dale was born November 12, 1939 in Eddy County, North Dakota the son of Charles and Mary (Finley) Lewis. He was raised on the family farm at Lake Washington near New Rockford and educated at schools in that area. He entered into active duty service with the U.S. Army in 1962 and served during the Vietnam era. He was honorably discharged in 1964 and returned to North Dakota to work and raise a family. He was the father of five children. Dale was united in marriage to Sharon Fritel on March 26, 1990.
Throughout the years, Dale was employed doing Road Construction with Hulstrand Construction until 1999, then with ICS, KGM and Holen Construction until 2006. Dale lived at the "Little Bitty Ranch" with his wife and best friend Sharon (Fritel). During retirement, he enjoyed a variety of activities, including gardening, hunting, fishing, auctions, spending time at his lake cabin, and the daily business of caring for his horses at the ranch. His evenings were often spent reading or spending time with his grandchildren, family and friends.
His loving family includes ; wife: Sharon; children: Roderick (Juanita) Lewis, San Antonio, TX, Brian (Christy) Lewis, Rockwall, TX, Barry (Heidi) Lewis, Finley, ND and Rita Feltman and her special friend, Mike Johnson, Drayton, ND; thirteen grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; brothers: Ervin Lewis, New Rockford, ND, Charles Lewis Jr., New Rockford, ND, and Jim Lewis, Jamestown, ND; and sister: Elva Harrington, Minot.
Dale was preceded in death by his parents, infant daughter, Denise, brothers, Rollin and Clayton, sisters, Gertrude Dodds and Nellie Kraft.
Funeral service
: Friday, July 23, 2010 at 3:00 p.m. in St. Leo's Catholic Church, Minot.
Interment:
Sunset Memorial Gardens, Minot.
Visitation:
Thursday from 2:00-7:00 p.m. in the Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot, with a Prayer Service recited in the funeral home at 7:30 p.m.
