Dale Irvine Gregory Sr., 81, Lansford died on Friday, August 9, 2013 in a Minot hospital following a long battle with cancer.

Dale was born on October 30, 1931 in Inglewood, CA to Leroy Sr. and Florence (Brietler) Gregory. He was reared and educated there and graduated from Inglewood High School in 1950. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in July of 1950. He received specialized training at a radio and submarine school and served on the USS Scabbardfish prior to his honorable discharge on May 6, 1954. During his military service he received the Korean Service, United Nations, National Defense and Good Conduct Medals.

Dale married Ladora Baker on July 7, 1953 in Honolulu, Hawaii. Following his discharge from the Navy they made their home in Gardena, CA where he attended El Camino Jr. College and was employed at North American Aviation for five years. Then, he worked for the U.S. Postal Service in Gardena for five years prior to serving as a building inspector/district engineer for the Department of Public Works in Los Angeles County from 1965 until 1992. He had resided and worked in Lancaster, CA for a majority of this time.

Following his retirement they moved to Lansford, ND in 2002 to be near his oldest daughter and her family.

Dale was a member of Trinity United Church - Lansford and a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars after serving as President of the VFW Post #3261 in Gardena. He was a member of the United States Submarine Veterans Incorporated (USSVI), International Conference of Building Officials and was active in Boy Scouts starting as an assistant cub scout master and ending as a scout master trainer. While living in Lansford he was a member of the Senior Citizens organization and was active at the community food pantry. He especially enjoyed traveling, photography, computers and deep sea fishing.

Dale's loving family includes his wife of 60 years Ladora; children: Dale Jr. (Nancy) Gregory of Buchanan MI, Dona (Robert) Kosel of Lansford and Kendra (Javier) Morales of McKinleyville, CA; four grandchildren: Kristen (Travis) Lehmann, Maria and Virginia Morales and Elizabeth (William) Kosel-Tilton; four great grandchildren: Logan and Alexis Lehmann, Evelyn Kosel and Lilie Tilton; brother: Paul (Betty) Gregory of Dana Point CA; brother-in-law: George Baker of North Hollywood, CA and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Dale was preceded in death by his parents, siblings: Leroy Jr., Cyrus, Johnnie and Marie Gallinger and an infant sister Patty.

Celebration of the Life of Dale Gregory : Thursday, August 15, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. in Trinity United Church - Lansford.
Interment will be in the Lansford Community Cemetery.
Visitation : Wednesday from 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home - Minot.
