Dale Laverne Forsberg, 90, longtime Minot resident, died Monday, January 18, 2016 in a Minot nursing home.

Dale was born on November 9, 1925 in Westby, North Dakota, to Gustav and Signa (Nelson) Forsberg. He was raised and educated near Westby. Dale left home at age 17 and worked in Seattle, Washington building war ships until he turned 18. He enlisted in the Army Air Corps in 1945 where he received a college education and became a B25 pilot.

After his honorable discharge in 1948, Dale returned to North Dakota. He married Margueritte (Ingle) Forsberg on May 18, 1947. Dale became one of North Dakota's largest residential builders in the 50's and 60's. He then turned to commercial construction as one of the innovators of mall shopping centers and constructed numerous shopping centers in the upper Midwest.

In 1966 he retired to Arizona for one year but returned to Minot where he focused on land development, eventually returning to Arizona where he resumed his career in residential building and land development.

He promoted youth enrichment by offering scholarships to high school seniors, participating in PTA, and offering summer employment to students. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, trapping and snowmobiling. He served as business manager of the Skinautique Ski Club at Lake Metigoshe, a frequent summer residence for his family.

Dale's loving family includes: wife of 68 years, Margueritte Forsberg, Minot; children, Deborah (Clair) Lane of Tempe, AZ, Terry Forsberg(Randy Moe) of Phoenix, Kathy (Jeff) Farstad of Minot, Thomas (Peggy) Forsberg of Minot, Flint (Jerane) Forsberg of Minot, Stuart Forsberg of Las Vegas, Randy (Karen) Forsberg of Fountain Hills, AZ and Lexy Huffman of Norman, OK; grandchildren: Cassandra Wisdom, Mikail Lane, Ashley Forsberg, Alexis Lindquist, Chris Jaeger, Teresa Coleman, Shane Farstad, Clay Forsberg, Alicia Lloyd, Drew Forsberg, Jessica Callison, Mehgan Krueger, Carter Forsberg, Jacob Forsberg, Benjamin Forsberg and Samantha Forsberg; several great grandchildren; sister: Myrna Petschke of Mesa AZ; sister-in-law: Adeline Forsberg of Minot and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Dale was preceded in death by his parents; sister: Eunice; brothers: Quentin and Larry and grandchildren: Matthew Seier, Amy Lane and Micah Lane.

Celebration of the Life of Dale Forsberg: Monday, January 25, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. in First Lutheran Church, Minot.
Interment : Rosehill Memorial Park - Minot.
Visitation : Sunday, January 24, 2016 from noon until 4:00 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home - Minot.
Memorials are preferred to the Dakota Territory Air Museum.
