Daisy B. Buen , 98, Berthold, died Thursday, January 22, 2015 in a Minot nursing home.

Daisy was born April 15, 1916 at Hingham, Montana the daughter of Melvin and Ora (Arnold) Hansen. She came to Berthold with her family as an infant, where she was raised and educated. She graduated from Berthold High School in 1934.

Daisy was united in marriage to Kenneth Buen on October 24, 1940. They made their home on the family farm near Berthold, where they raised cattle, hogs, chickens and all types of small animals. Daisy and Ken sold eggs and cream to people in the Berthold area for many years. They moved to Berthold in 1994. Kenneth passed away on September 12, 2008. Daisy continued to live in Berthold until she became ill on January 7th of this year.

Daisy was a longtime member of Zion Lutheran Church, Berthold, were she was active with the ZLCW and Bessie Circle group. She was involved with the Church Quilters group and crocheted many Prayer Shawls for the ZLCW to deliver to the sick and shut-ins. At the age of 98, she was currently working on another prayer shawl before she became ill. She loved her hobby of crocheting and made many items for gifts and just to give away! Daisy was also well known for her plastic bag crocheted rugs that anyone visiting her at home left with one of two of them. She made many quilts for her relatives and friends. Daisy enjoyed Saturday afternoons when her special friends who came over to do her hair and have lunch. Daisy loved to visit and was very happy when people would stop by to visit any time. She appreciated so much also the baked goods, Soup for Seniors and of course the "fresh" fish people brought to her! In July of 2013, Daisy along with her youngest cousin, Charles Arnold, were the Berthold All-School Reunion Parade Grand Marshals, celebrating 100 years of graduates from Berthold School.

Her loving family includes, sister, Valda Schwede, Minot; sisters-in-law, Ione Henrickson, Berthold and Joyce Buen, Berthold; along with a number of nieces and nephews and special friends.

Daisy was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Kenneth and a brother, John Hansen.

Funeral service : Tuesday, January 27, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. in Zion Lutheran Church, Berthold.
Interment : Wildrose Cemetery, Rural Berthold
Visitation : Monday, January 26 from 2:00-6:00 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
Memorials are preferred to Zion Lutheran Church of an organization of the donor's choice.
