Curtis Ray Yuly, 72, Minot, died Thursday, November 8, 2018 in a Minot, Hospital.
Curt was born November 2, 1946 at Minot, North Dakota, the son of Herbert and Bernice (Leathes) Yuly. He was raised in Minot and graduated from Minot High School in 1965. He received an associate of arts degree from Minot State College in 1972 and a bachelors degree in Social Work in 1987.
Curt enlisted with the U.S. Navy in 1965 and honorably served his country until 1969. He returned to Minot and was employed with the Minot Public Schools as a bus driver for 10 years. He was united in marriage to Sharon Dionne on June 15, 1985. They moved to Seattle, Washington in 1987, where he was employed as a maintenance worker for Marriott Hotels and managed apartments in that area.
They returned to Minot in 1995, where he became employed at several places until he went to work for KALIX as a social worker and job coach. He retired in 2010. Throughout the years, Curt continued to serve his country in the Army Reserves 793 rd Engineers Detachment from 1976-1987 in North Dakota and from 1987-1995 with the 1395 TTU in Seattle.
Curt was a longtime member of the Congregational United Church of Christ, Minot. He was also a member of the Minot American Legion, Elks Club and Dakota Cruisers. He spent time doing automotive detailing, working on small engines, hunting, and traveling. Curt enjoyed fishing and boating with his friends at Lake Sakakawea, where his family had a cabin. He was a car enthusiast and participated in many car shows, parades, and auto events.
Curt will be remembered for the ability to entertain with his many jokes and stories. He had a great sense of humor and will be dearly missed.
Curt's loving family includes, his brother in laws, Clint Wolf, Minot, Jerry Stout, Arkansas, and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, Sharon, brother, Allen, sisters, Delores Benson, Carol Stout, Kathleen Johnson and Linda Wolf; nephews, Donald Sebo, Jr and Kerry Wolf.
Celebration of Life service
: 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 13, 2018 at the Congregational United Church of Christ, Minot.
Interment:
Veterans Section of Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot.
Visitation:
One hour prior to the start of the service in the church.
Memorials are preferred to Kalix and Congregational United Church of Christ.
