Crystal Adella Kjonaas, 93, Velva, formerly of rural Glenburn, died Monday, November 28, 2011 in a Velva Nursing Care Center.

Crystal was born December 17, 1917 on the family farm in Chatfield Township of Bottineau County, the daughter of Christ and Emma (Braaten) Kjonaas. She was raised on the family farm near Eckman and was baptized at Our Savior's Lutheran Church. She lived with her parents for as long as they could care for her.

Crystal became a resident of the State School in Grafton in 1969. She resided there until 1983, when the school closed and she was transferred to the Souris Valley Care Center in Velva. She was well cared for and flourished.

She is survived by her sister-in-law, Myrtle Kjonaas, Minot, nephews, Curtis (Pam) Kjonaas, Kindred, ND, Merle (Eileen) Kjonaas, Sanibel, FL, nieces, Donna (Murray Smith) Kjonaas, Sanibel, FL, and Bette (Hal) Tarvestad, Lansford; along with several cousins, great- nieces and great-nephews.

Crystal was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Kermit Kjonaas.

Funeral service: Wednesday, November 30, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.

Interment: Our Savior Lutheran Cemetery, rural Glenburn, ND.

Visitation : Wednesday, one hour prior the service in Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
