Coral June DeLong, 84, Minot, died Thursday, February 14, 2013 in a Minot nursing home.
Coral was born August 9, 1928 at Bottineau, North Dakota, the daughter of William and Gwane (Goodman) Hahn. She was raised and educated at Gardena and later attended Minot State College.
Coral was united in marriage to Ivan "Bill" DeLong on June 20, 1949 in Zion Lutheran Church, Gardena. They made their home In Minot, where Coral worked for American State Bank and the American Legion for a short time. Along with raising their children, Coral was employed at North Hill Bowling Center, where she worked in various capacities for forty-eight years. She loved working with the Senior League. They also farmed the Hahn Family farm for several years. Bill died August 23, 2006.
Coral was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Minot, where she was active with the Lutheran Women\'s Missionary League. She played the church organ and piano for many years. Coral was a member of the Minot Women\'s Bowling Association and was inducted into the Minot Hall of Fame for Meritorious Service. She was also a member of the Icelandic Heritage Society. Her hobbies and interests included music, bowling and gardening.
Coral's loving family includes, children: Linda (Ron) Olson, Lake Pleasant, AZ, Gregory (Carol) DeLong, Cave Creek, AZ, Val (Frank) Bruels, Minot, Camille DeLong, El Mirage, AZ. Grandchildren: Steven (Lauren) DeLong, Derek (Theresa) DeLong, Tara (Jeff) Steele, Chad (Erin) Bruels, J'me Olson, Hannah DeLong, Patrick Millette; Great-grandchildren: Kyra West, Spencer Karlson, Braxton, Brinley and Addison Steele, Jace and Jorah DeLong, Hailey DeLong and sister, Bette Anderson, Minot.
Coral was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter, Cynthia.
Funeral service:
Wednesday, February 20, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. in St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Minot.
Interment:
Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot.
Visitation:
Tuesday from 3:00-7:00 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
Memorials are preferred to St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Minot, NHB Jr. Bowlers Scholarship Fund, or YWCA Women's & Children's Shelter.
