Clifford was born October 10, 1926, near Sawyer, ND to Henry Sr. and Dolly (Bean) Lyght. He was reared and educated in Sawyer. His youth was spent working on the farm for area producers until joining the US Army on December 23, 1945. Clifford served his country honorably during the Korean War era. He was accorded numerous service medals for his honorable service until his discharge on June 4, 1955.

Clifford returned to North Dakota and settled in Minot. He worked at Minot Grain Inspection as a government grain inspector from 1956 until 1970. He then took a job with Kedney Moving and Storage as a local truck driver and warehouse man in 1970.

While at Kedney, he met a secretary by the name of Claire Estlick. They were united in marriage on May 18, 1978 in Minot, where they would make their home. They both spent their professional working years with Kedney until Clifford's health forced him to retire in 1988.

Clifford had a passion for automobiles. He was a member of the Magic City Antique Car Club of Minot and even built a 1927 Model T Ford, from the ground up in the basement of his home. He attended Zion Lutheran Church of Minot and was a member of the Velva American Legion. Clifford loved to vacation and was often found visiting family in Minnesota, Montana and Wyoming. He will be missed by all who shared in his life.

Clifford is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Claire Lyght, Minot; sister-in-law, Marlene (Maynard) Rauk, Cheyenne, WY and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Clifford was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Mary (George) Preston, brothers, Milton, Gerald (Lillian), Howard (Erma), Henry Jr. (Mary Lou) and Claud Lyght.
