Obituary

Clarence O. Steen , 99, longtime Glenburn area resident, died Saturday, September 16, 2006, in a Velva Nursing Care Center.

Clarence was born November 30, 1906, in Chatfield Township of Bottineau County, North Dakota, the son of Carl and Clara (Markestad) Steen. He was raised and educated in Chatfield Township and assisted with the operation of the family farm.

Clarence was united in marriage to Pansy Nellis of Wakonda, South Dakota, on July 6, 1927, at Vermillion, South Dakota. They made their home on a farm in Elms Township of Bottineau County, near Glenburn. They lived there until 1959, when they moved into Glenburn. Along with farming, Clarence also worked as a carpenter at the Minot Air Force Base and in other areas of North Dakota. Pansy died May 28, 1987.

He was once married to Esther McNabb.

Clarence had been a resident of the Souris Valley Care Center in Velva at the time of his death.

Clarence was active in the Glenburn Community, where he was a member of the Glenburn Senior Citizens and Hope Lutheran Church. He had served on a various boards and committees within the church and community.

His loving family includes : Children: Roy (Mabel) Steen, Jamestown, New York,

Claire (Eudene) Steen, Glenburn, Betty (Joe) Payne, Deerfield Beach, Florida, Carol (Doyle) Steen, Tucson, Arizona and Pearl (Don) Bloms, Evanston, Wyoming; A number of Grandchildren; Great Grandchildren and Great Great Grandchildren; Sisters: Myrtle Ehrhard, Spokane, WA, Evelyn Mattern, Maxbass, ND; Brothers: Robert Steen, Lomita, CA, Clayton (Irma) Steen, Coconut Grove, FL, and Norman (Ione) Steen, Marshall, MN; A number of nieces, nephews and cousins.

Clarence was preceded in death by his parents, wife, infant children, Melvin & Viola, grandson, Warren Nelson, a great-great granddaughter, Amie Leigh Greer, sisters, Selma, Edna & Ardith and brothers, Lloyd, Raymond, Leon &Wallace.

Funeral Service : Wednesday, September 20, 2006, at 2:00 p.m. in Hope Lutheran Church, Glenburn, ND;
Interment
: Our Saviour's Cemetery, Rural Glenburn;
Visitation:
Tuesday from 2:00 - 7:00 p.m. in the Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
Memorials are preferred to Hope Lutheran Church, Glenburn or the Glenburn Senior Citizens. The family desires that you refrain from wearing fragrances.
