Obituary

Clarence "Red" Louis Tryhus, 86, rural Minot, died Wednesday, June 19, 2019 unexpectedly at his residence.

Clarence was born July 8, 1932 in Minot, North Dakota, to Oscar and Anna (Pederson) Tryhus. He was raised and educated in Minot. He entered into active duty service with the U.S. Army in January of 1953 and honorably served his country during the Korean War until December of 1954. Upon receiving his discharge, he returned to North Dakota.

Clarence was united in marriage to Margaret "Marge" Bertsch on April 7, 1956 in Minot. They made their home southeast of Minot, where they raised their three children. Over the years, Red was employed in the construction industry working for a number of companies in North Dakota. Some of which included, Bober Construction, Sherwood Construction, and later Bechtold Paving of Minot, where he retired in 1995.

Clarence was a member of the Moose Lodge, American Legion Post #26, Veterans of Foreign War Post #753 and the Minot Eagles Aerie. He enjoyed fishing, woodworking, metal working, doing yard work, along with restoring old tractors and cars. He also enjoyed attending Maecey's basketball games, sharing his popcorn with his best friend Jayco (his bird) and lunch on Wednesday's at the Moose with his friends and relatives. He had a heart of gold and was always lending a helping hand, no matter the job!

His loving family includes , children, LaDawn Tuck, Bismarck, LuAnn (Peter Yung) Tryhus, Surrey, ND and Clarey (Judy) Tryhus, Minot; 3 grandchildren to include: Kristin McKibbin,  Andrew (Janna) Tuck and Ryan (Tonya) Olander; great grandchildren to include: Maecey McKibbin,  Catherine & Joseph Tuck; Mercedes and Josie Olander; siblings, Bud Tryhus, Darlene  Peters,  and Ardis (Bob) Markle, all of Minot; half-sisters, Sandra (Sam) Speerstra, Great Falls, MT and Linda Krupa, Hemet, CA; a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.

Clarence was preceded in death by his parents, wife of 53 years, Marge; and sister Eleanor Allard and twin sister Clara Hunter.

Liturgy of the Word Service: Tuesday, June 25, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. in Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, Minot.
Vigil Prayer Service : Monday, June 24, 2019 at 7:00 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
Interment: Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot.
Visitation: Monday from 3:00-6:00 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
In lieu of flowers and plants memorials are preferred to the Cancer Care Center of Minot.
