Obituary

Clanton "Al" Myers, 62, Glenburn, died Saturday, July 2, 2011 unexpectedly of a heart attack.

Al was born June 20, 1949 at Kingsville, Texas the son of Clanton Allen and Barbara (Schacht) Myers. He was raised at San Antonio and later Somerset, Texas, where he graduated from High School. Al entered into active duty service with the U.S. Air Force in 1968.

Al was united in marriage to Rheadonn "Rhea" Giannakis on August 6, 1976 at Hickam AFB, Hawaii where Al was stationed. He was later transferred to Minot Air Force Base, where he served as crew chief and job control for the Air Force. He retired from active duty as a TSgt. in 1988. He was currently working at the Minot Air Force Base as Team Chief, Lead Mechanic on helicopters for M1 Support Services.

Al was a member of Hope Lutheran Church, Glenburn, where he served as the Church Treasurer and in a number of other capacities. He also worked for the Glenburn Park Board and had served on the Glenburn City Council. If he wasn't at work, he could often be found helping someone out, blowing snow, mowing or his favorite pass time "Gone Fishing". He enjoyed being with family and friends at their fishing shack in Riverdale. Al was a loving husband, father and grandfather.

Al is survived by his wife of thirty-four years, Rhea; twin-daughters, Dawna Smith and Tawna (Mike) Simonson, both of Surrey; son, Barry, New Mexico; grandchildren, Becca, Alexys, Chandler and Nathan; sister, Maxine Myers, Helotes, TX; brother, Bill, Oregon; aunts and uncles, Mark and LaVoy Myers, Nixon, TX and Butch and Betty Myers, Breckenridge, TX; along with numerous cousins.

Al was preceded in death by his parents, and son, Kenny Myers.

Funeral service: Thursday, July 7, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at Hope Lutheran Church, Glenburn, ND.

Interment: Fairview Cemetery, Glenburn, ND.

Visitation: Wednesday from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot and Thursday 10:00 a.m. at Hope Lutheran Church in Glenburn.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be sent to the American Heart Association.
