Cheryl M. Opp, 56, Minot, formerly of Sawyer, died Tuesday, June 2, 2020 at her residence.

Cheryl was born September 7, 1963 at Minot, North Dakota, the daughter of Arley and Sharon (Peterson) Opp. She was raised at Sawyer and graduated from Sawyer High School in 1982. She attended Minot State College, where she majored in Theater.

Throughout the years, Cheryl had been employed at Bingorama, the Minot Daily News and ReStore. During her younger years, she had been active with the MSU Summer Theatre Program.

Cheryl was a member of First Lutheran Church, Minot, where she was active with bible studies, quilting groups, coffee hour after church, and worked at the State Fair and Hostfest food stands. She was also a member of the Minot Golden K Kiwanis and the Minot YMCA, where she participated in Pilates and Water Aerobics classes. She loved to read, quilt, take photos and could be seen walking throughout much of Minot.

Her loving family includes : sisters, Karen Opp, Minot, Dorothy (Jason) Sparks, Grand Forks; several nieces and nephews, including: Danielle, Brandon & Tyler Towns; James, Joshua, Zachary & Dustin Sparks; great nephew, Hezzekiah; uncle Larry Opp and an aunt.

Cheryl was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Terry, one aunt and several uncles.

Celebration of Life service: 2:00 p.m. Friday, June 12, 2020 at First Lutheran Church, Minot.

Interment: Sawyer Community Cemetery at a later date.
